I ride an '82 Yamaha XS650SJ. The Quintessential Motorcycle. For the past few years I have been "restifying"
it. Among the changes so far: Repainted and
the Dick Brewster designed "Yamarumph" transfers fitted and clear-coated.
Rims re-chromed and fitted with Buchanan's polished stainless spokes. Tires are K491 Dunlops. TKAT fork brace has been fitted. The fork gaiters are from
Thumper Stuff. The suspension front and rear, is from
Progressive Suspension. I also fitted roller steering head bearings
and bronze swingarm bushings. The exhaust
system is BUB, 2 into 2 with Conti style
mufflers. Sad to report that BUB no longer
makes these XS exhausts. Brakes have been
upgraded with a new Kawasaki master cylinder,
Ferodo linings, and stainless lines. Bars are from
K&N, flat-track style, shortened 1"
at each end. Bar end weights help dampen
the vibes so the mirrors are clear at all
speeds. I fitted aluminum bullet turn signals
on homemade stalks.......<<<HOME <<BACK NEXT>
